MacBook, iMac or Mac mini. Nothing to install.
Mac telestration software is usually a download that has to support your version of macOS. ProPlayVision runs in your web browser instead, so it works on Apple silicon and Intel Macs alike. Open it in Google Chrome, load your film and draw, then send a clean output window to OBS when you go live.
ProPlayVision is built for Chromium browsers, so on a Mac we recommend Google Chrome. Microsoft Edge for Mac, which is built on the same engine, works too.
What about Safari? Safari isn't the recommended browser. It uses Apple's own WebKit engine, and some of the features a telestrator depends on, like recording, capture and the output window, can behave differently or be unavailable there. For the full tool set, open ProPlayVision in Chrome. Chrome is free and installs from google.com/chrome in about a minute.
If you don't have it yet, download it free from Google. It's the only thing you install.
Log in to ProPlayVision and open the X's O's Chalkboard, the drawing workspace.
Load a game film clip, a highlight or a gameplay recording from your Mac.
Break the play down with the drawing tools, record a voiceover, cut a clip, or open the OBS output window to stream it.
Routes, gap stamps, run fits, coverage shells, QB vision cones and read progressions, not just a pen and a few shapes.
Rewind what just happened and draw on it, the classic replay breakdown.
Lock a spotlight or marker onto a player and it rides with him through the play. How tracking works →
A clean canvas window you capture in OBS Studio for Mac. OBS telestrator →
Draw with a trackpad, mouse or pen tablet. Voice commands save clicks when you're working on a laptop.
Script Mode voiceover sync, the Cut Room editor and 9:16 vertical clips for Shorts and Reels.
| Recommended? | Notes | |
|---|---|---|
| Google Chrome | Yes | Full tool set. Our recommended browser on Mac. |
| Microsoft Edge for Mac | Yes | Built on the same Chromium engine as Chrome. |
| Safari | Not recommended | Some recording, capture and output features may not work. Use Chrome instead. |
To draw live on stream, open ProPlayVision's output window, then add it in OBS Studio for Mac. In recent versions of OBS, add a macOS Screen Capture source and set it to capture a single window, then pick the output window. Older OBS versions use a Window Capture source instead.
The first time you do this, macOS asks for permission. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording (called Screen Recording on older macOS versions), turn on OBS, and restart OBS. If the source shows a black or empty window, this permission is almost always the reason.
The rest of the setup is the same as on Windows. See how to draw on screen in OBS for sizing and fixes.
The 84 football tools are what ProPlayVision is known for, but the spotlights, arrows, zones, tracking, replay and OBS output work on any sports video. See the sports telestrator page for what you can use on other sports today.
No download is needed. ProPlayVision runs in your web browser, so you open it in Chrome on your Mac and sign in.
Safari isn't recommended. Some recording, capture and output features may not work in Safari, so use Google Chrome (or Microsoft Edge for Mac) for the full tool set.
Yes. Because it runs in the browser, it works on Apple silicon (M-series) and Intel Macs, including MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac and Mac mini.
macOS needs to give OBS permission to record your screen. Turn on OBS under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording, then restart OBS.
Yes. You can draw with a trackpad, a mouse or a pen tablet, and use voice commands to call tools without clicking.
The same browser app runs on Windows. See the telestrator for Windows page.
X's O's Chalkboard is live. Plans start at $19.99/month, month to month, cancel anytime.
