Video Analysis & Film Breakdown

Football video analysis software for coaches — in your browser

Breaking down film is only half the job. The other half is getting a 16-year-old to see what you see. ProPlayVision is football video analysis and film breakdown software built around that second half: tag the plays that matter, then draw on them with tools that already speak football.

What Film Breakdown Software Should Actually Do

Most football film software is built for data breakdown: logging down, distance, formation, personnel and result for every snap so you can run tendency reports. That work matters, and team platforms are good at it.

But when you sit in front of your linebackers on Monday, a tendency report doesn't teach anybody anything. What teaches is visual breakdown — freezing the snap, drawing the gap he should have fit, showing where his eyes went and where they should have gone.

Where most football analysis software, and most sports video analysis tools, focus on the data, ProPlayVision is built for the visual side. It includes play tagging so you can find the clips you need, but the heart of it is a telestrator with 84 football-specific tools and a 3D perspective engine that puts drawings on the field, not on top of the screen.

From Game Film To Teaching Tape

  1. Load your film

Open ProPlayVision in your browser and load the game or practice film. No install on the school computer, no IT ticket.

  2. Tag the plays you'll teach

Mark in and out, tag the concept — "Mesh vs Cover 1," "missed B-gap fit" — and every clip lands in a searchable library.

  3. Draw the coaching point

Gap indicators, run fits, zone depth, QB vision cones, slide protection and 1-2-3 read chains. Lock a spotlight on a player and it follows him through the rep.

  4. Add your voice

Record a voiceover in-app and use Script Mode so each drawing appears exactly when you talk about it. The clip teaches itself when a player watches it at home.

  5. Show it or send it

Present live in the film room, trim it in the built-in Cut Room editor, or crop to vertical for the clips players actually watch on their phones.

Built For The Film Room

Every tool is built around a football coaching point — not generic arrows you have to bend into one.

Play Tagging

Mark in/out, tag concepts and search your library, so every coaching clip stays findable all season.

Run Fits & Gaps

A/B/C/D gap stamps, gap indicators, blocks, pulls and pressure paths for teaching the run game up front.

Coverage Tools

Man, pressure, contain, and zone tools for hooks, flats, curl-flats and deep thirds or halves.

QB Reads

QB vision cones, drop depth and 1-2-3 read chains to walk a quarterback through a progression.

Assisted Player Tracking

Lock a drawing onto a player and it rides with him. One drag corrects any drift.

Script Mode

Time-code drawings to your explanation so clips play back like a finished breakdown.

Is It The Right Film Tool For You?

Great Fit If You…

  • Want to teach from film, not just log it
  • Coach youth, middle school, high school, 7-on-7 or flag
  • Need something that runs on any computer without installs
  • Want published pricing you can pay for yourself
  • Already have film and need a better way to show it

Pair It With A Team Platform If You…

  • Exchange game film with opponents through your league
  • Need stat-driven tendency reports on every snap
  • Want team-wide film storage and sharing
  • Rely on a platform's camera hardware
  • Have analysts doing full data breakdown

Film Breakdown Questions

Does ProPlayVision store and share team film?

No. It's focused on breaking down and presenting film, not team-wide storage or film exchange. Many programs keep their existing platform for exchange and use ProPlayVision for teaching. See our Hudl comparison.

Can I tag plays?

Yes. Mark in and out, tag the concept and build a searchable library of the plays you've broken down. It isn't a full stats and tendency-reporting system.

Does it work on school computers?

It runs in a web browser, so there's no software to install. That usually makes it far easier to use on locked-down school machines.

How much does it cost?

Plans are $19.99, $39.99 and $59.99 per month. See pricing for what's in each.

Teach What The Film Shows.
